Privacy Policy

Who we are

Our website address is https://wdc65xx.com.

Comments

Pages on our site do not allow for comments. If you find a page that does, please notify us as it is likely done by mistake.

Media

We do not allow for any uploading of images/media, therefore no embedded location data would be at risk.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who do we share your data with

Your name, email address, and IP address are collected when downloading WDCTools, signing up for our newsletter, or sending a contact form. That information is transmitted through email and stored in our database for records purposes only. Other than in those emails (and any replies back and forth), no data is transmitted to any other party. No information is or will be shared or sold.

How long we retain your data

For users that download WDCTools on our website, we store the personal information (Name, Email, IP) indefinitely to track the number of downloads of the tools (maximum has been increased to 3). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights do you have over your data

You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. The only information we would have would be Name, Email Address, and IP address, however, we will do our best to accommodate any request to view or delete data.

Where do we send your data

Your name, email address, and IP address are collected when downloading WDCTools, signing up for our newsletter, or sending a contact form. That information is transmitted through email and stored in our database for records purposes only. Other than in those emails (and any replies back and forth), no data is transmitted to any other party.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. We use a limited number of them, and we block everything that is not strictly necessary until you tell us otherwise.

Your choices

When you first visit WDC65xx.com you are asked which categories of cookies you are willing to allow. Nothing outside the “strictly necessary” category is loaded before you answer, and you can change your answer at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing permission is as easy as granting it.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as an instruction to switch off advertising and analytics cookies, and we honor it before any banner is shown. You do not need to do anything else.

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we run no advertising cookies on this site. The Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information control in the cookie settings panel is provided so that you can exercise that right regardless.

Strictly necessary

These keep the site working and cannot be switched off.

CookiePurposeRetention
wdc_consentRemembers which categories of cookies you allowed6 months
wdc_consent_ackRecords that your choice has been written to our consent log, so we do not write it twice6 months
wordpress_*, wp-settings-*Set only when a WDC staff member signs in to administer the site. Not set for ordinary visitors.Session to 1 year
Google reCAPTCHADistinguishes people from automated scripts on our contact and download forms. Provided by Google; used solely for abuse prevention.Varies (Google)

We also keep a record of each consent choice — the date, the categories you allowed, the version of this policy in force, and a one-way cryptographic hash derived from your IP address and browser. We do not store your IP address in that record. The hash cannot be reversed to identify you; it exists so we can demonstrate that consent was properly obtained.

Analytics

We use WP Statistics, which runs entirely on our own server. Visit data stays in our database, is never transmitted to any analytics company, and IP addresses are anonymized before they are stored. We use it only to understand which product and documentation pages are being used.

Embedded content

Some pages include content hosted by other companies. These are blocked until you allow the “embedded content” category, and blocked embeds display a placeholder with a button to load them individually.

TidioLive chat widgetMaintains your chat session

Google Docs Viewer / Microsoft Office ViewerPages that display embedded documentsRenders PDFs and documents in the browser

Once you allow these, the provider sets its own cookies and receives your IP address and browser information directly. Their use of that data is governed by their own privacy policies, not ours. These providers are based in the United States.

Advertising

We do not currently run any advertising or retargeting cookies on this site. If that changes, this policy will be updated and you will be asked for your consent again before any such cookie is set.

Mailing lists and downloads

Subscribing to our newsletter or requesting a download sends the information you enter to us and, for newsletters, to our email provider Mailchimp. That is based on the information you submit rather than on cookies, and is covered in the Who Do We Share Your Data With section of this policy.

Managing cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you view, delete, and block cookies through its settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of this site from working, including the cookie settings panel itself.
