Step 1

Plug in your MENSCH™ via the Male Pin header J5

 

The MENSCH™ can be powered by either 3.3V 5V DC. Depending on your desired application you can select either of these voltages to work with your MENSCH™. This is accomplished through the use of a  USB_RS232 cable or board.

The USB_RS232 cables are a family of USB to RS232 levels serial UART converter cables incorporating FTDI’s FT232RQ USB to serial UART interface IC device which handles all the USB signaling and protocols.  The cables provide a fast, simple way to connect devices with a RS232 level serial UART interface to USB.

Each USB-RS232 cable contains a small internal electronic circuit board, utilizing the FT232R, which is encapsulated into the USB connector end of the cable.  The integrated electronics also include the RS232 level shifter plus Tx and Rx

LEDs which give a visual indication of traffic on the cable (if transparent USB connector specified).  The other end of the cable is bare, tinned wire ended connections by default, but can be customized using different connectors to support various applications.

Cables are FCC, CE, RoHS compliant.

The MENSCH™ has the MENSCH™ monitor configured so that on reset it will communicate to a terminal using a UART . You can use programs such as HyperTerm (PC), HyperSerialPort (PC), PuTTY (MAC, Linux, PC), ZTERM (MAC), XTERM (MAC, Linux) to communicate with the boards. Or if its a more mobile interface you seek, with any Android device you can use the FTDI UART Terminal!
